Anything before or after means little (at least in this world).

What counts is what you do in between the two...

I don't know about you, but often, the weekend arrives, and I say to myself, "where has this past week gone...it's flown by!"

You ever feel like time and life is rushing by you?

Life is not going to stand still for you so you can "catch up", or so you can, "find the time" to do those things you really want to do.

It just ain't gonna happen!

But you're so busy being busy (you say) that you can't find the time to take care of yourself.

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of people who can't find the time to take care of themselves; and then expect me to foot the bill when they get sick and require expensive medicine, surgeries, and hospital stays.

And lest you think you're not paying for them too, I'll remind you - our insurance costs are directly proportional to the amount of insurance claims made on our health insurance policies every year.

I don't know about you, but I'm not too happy paying over $1,000 per month for insurance for my family, knowing full well that I probably won't ever use it. Yet I willingly pay it anyway "just in case" something catastrophic happens.

And I keep reading how fat we are as a Nation, and how obesity is the leading cause of the diseases that eventually kill us off (and put us in the hospital in the meantime). And how the annual increases in insurance costs are blowing away the annual inflation rate.

The heck with the Boston tea party, I'm ready to revolt for the good guy, the guy/gal that stays fit, tries to keep healthy, reduces the burden on our medical and insurance system, yet happily plods along, paying those big fat checks to the insurance company every month.

Which one are you?

Are you doing something about not heading down the path of the 60% overweight and obese people in this Nation? I sincerely hope so. Because if you're not, I'm going to send my cousin Guido to your house to talk some sense into you.

Lesson 15 - Become Accountable

One of the most powerful things you can do to assure continued progress is to tell someone of
your plans to start a diet and exercise program.

Psychologically we become much stronger at performing and keeping to a task if we tell
someone we are going to do it. Plus, you are being held accountable to that person for following through on your promise to complete your program.

Ask this person to call or keep in touch with you on a regular basis. Then provide this person
feedback on your progress. Tell this person there may come a time in your program when you’re struggling.

Under no circumstances is this person to be sympathetic with your struggles. Instruct them to
do everything in their power to get you to continue on track.

Give them a copy of your contract so they can show you if need be when the time comes.

WARNING!

There is a possibility that unless you correctly choose the person you will be held accountable to, that instead of supporting your decision they will attempt to talk you out of it and may even ridicule your efforts at doing this "sort of thing."

There are many reasons why this happens.

Lots of people are insecure about their own poor shape. They know they need to do something about it, but for many reasons don’t. When someone comes along and "upsets the apple cart", so to speak, they become upset (because it reminds them of their own inability to do something they know they should be doing)

But instead of getting angry at themselves, they try and sabotage you.

Even well meaning family and friends will try and derail you if only to make themselves feel better about their own situation.

Finally, using a workout partner or buddy will help you tremendously. When you both commit to a program there will be a sense of bonding and of not wanting to let one another down.
